Day 7: The 7 Day Challenge

I can’t believe that we are at our last day; I hope you enjoyed this challenge and it inspired you to have one of your own. I will post the final product this coming Monday, I need the weekend to bind and complete the cover/back cover in case I mess it up the time to do another page LOL.

What I did:

1. Take Rich Razzleberry 5 w x 5 h x 2; DSP Lovely Flowers 5 w x 5 h (flowers); Vellum card stock 5 w x 5 h and using the Big Shot and the Stampin’ up Top Note cut 2 of the Rich Razzleberry and one of the remaining papers.
2. Take the DSP Lovely 6 w x 9 (yellow flowers) added some adhesive and add it to the Whisper White (all pages) 6 w x 9.
3. Take one of the Rich Razzleberry 5 w x 5 h that you cut using the Big Shot and one of the flower stamps from Flower Lines Stamp Artwork and using VersaMark stamp a pattern for the back ground.
4. Take a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock and stamping twice using the same flower stamp above, using Rich Razzleberry classic ink.
5. Take the vellum that you cut above with the Big Shot and one of the flowers that you just stamped as a template; pierce the vellum like the flower using a needle or paper piercer.
6. With the other flower cut out and using Stampin Dimensionals add it to the Old Olive 2.5 w x 2.5 h; using one of the stamps from Warm Words and again using Rich Razzleberry classic ink stamp on the piece of Old Olive 2.5 w x 2.5 h as per sample.
7. Take the DSP Lovely Flowers that you cut using the Big Shot and cut in half width wise as per sample and using adhesive add to the 2nd Rich Razzleberry, remember to leave the top open so it is like a pocket.
8. Take the paper piercer and all 3 pieces that you cut from the Big Shot and at the top pierce a hole so you can add the brad.
9. Add ribbon and not and adhere to the page as per sample.

What I did:

1. Take Whisper White (all pages) 6 w x 9 and using one of the flowers from Flower Lines Stamp Artwork and VersaMark stamp a background pattern sprinkle with Clear Stampin Emboss Powder remembering to tap off excess and heat with heat gun.
2. Using adhesive add Rich Razzleberry 4 w x 2.25 h, DSP Lovely Flowers 4 w x 6 h (yellow flowers) and Old Olive card stock 4 w x .75 h as per sample.
3. Using the Big Shot and Stampin’ Up Little Leaves (DSP Lovely Flowers scrap for doing leaves (green flowers), Stampin Up Hearts and Brackets (Rich Razzleberry scrap for brackets) cut one of each and apply using adhesive as per sample.
4. For the large tag using Barely Banana card stock 3.5 w x 6 h and a score pal; score lines every .5 inches from 1-6 inches and score once .5 on the left as per sample.
5. Using the Crop-a-Dile punch a whole in the top left had side in the square and add silver eyelet then thread through the Hemp Twine.
6. Using the Big Shot and the Stampin’ Up Hi Embosslits Dies cut one using a scrap of DSP Lovely Flowers scrap (green flowers), with a sanding block and careful sand off the embossed areas to remove the colour leaving the white to come through. Do this very carefully so you don’t tear the paper.
7. Add Stampin Dimensionals and adhere to the tag as per sample.

Day 6: The 7 Day Challenge

The latest issue of Stampin' Success was released on-line yesterday see here and I was delighted to share this with you. So I am delayed by one day with my posts for the 7 Day Challenge but I am sure you will forgive me for this.

For today’s two pages it’s all about journaling, on the left you have a little card that closes with a ribbon, on the right you have some vellum which is great for journaling, using a gold/silver/white pen, which is so pretty.

What I did:

1. 
   Apply adhesive to DSP Lovely Flowers 6 w x 9 (polka dots) and add to Whisper White (all pages) 6 w x 9 h
2. Take your Rich Razzleberry 4.5 w x 4.5 h using one of the flowers from Flower Lines Stamp Artwork apply VersaMark to the stamp and create a background with this stamp.
3. Apply Clear Stampin Emboss Powder to the VersaMark image and using a heat gun melt until the powder disappears.
4. Repeat this step using the Whisper White 7 w x 3.5 h, score and fold, add ribbon so it will wrap around, you can either tie a not or in my case I used a buckle that I had hanging around.
5. Using a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock and Rich Razzleberry classic ink stamp the same flower then fill in using Blender Pens and Crushed Curry classic ink create shadows using Rich Razzleberry classic in.
6. Add Crystal Effects to give it some sparkle and dimension.
7. Assemble as per sample, and using uni-ball Signo Gel Pen write a message below the flower.

2. Take ½ inch Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon Crushed Curry add adhesive and also attach to DSP paper, using another piece of ½ inch Polka-Dot Grosgrain Ribbon Crushed Curry and tie not.
3. Take Rich Razzleberry 2 w x 2 h and Lovely Lines Rub-ons and choose a flower and words apply to cardstock.
4. Take two Stampin Dimensionals and apply to back of Rich Razzleberry 2 w x 2 h and assemble as per image.

Day 6 complete.

Day 5: The 7 Day Challenge

Wow this has been such a great experience I will definitely be doing another challenge like this again, I am learning so much. I hope you liked the matchbook style booklet that I created yesterday it was so easy to do. For today’s challenge, I used the big shot for these two pages, and even better I used vellum and made a pocket sleeve that will go between the two pages. If you are new to this you can read about my personal challenge here and view what I have done so far for Day’s 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the challenge.

What I did:

1. Take Old Olive 5 w x 5 h and using the Top Notes die and your big shot cut out one.
2. Using the Lovely Lines Rub-On's rub some flowers onto the Top Note that you just punched out (see sample)
3. Attach the DSP Lovely Flowers 6 w x 9 (green flowers) to the Whisper White (all pages) 6 w x 9 h.
4. Add the Top Note to the front of the DSP Lovely Flowers. (See sample)

Recipe for Vellum Pocket:

Supplies:

Paper: Vellum card stock
Ink (all classic): none
Stamp Sets: none
Misc: Lovely Lines Rub-On's and 1 inch circle punch

Paper Size:

Vellum card stock 11 w x 8.5 h

What I did:

1. Take the Vellum card stock 11 w x 8.5 h and score at 5.5 so that it is half the size then score at 8 inches and folded.
2. Using adhesive secure the bottom, basically you will have two sides open, the top so you can slip your treasures in and the left for when you are binding it.
3. Take the 1 inch circle punch and punch half of a full circle. (See sample)
4. Using the Lovely Lines Rub-On's rub some flowers rub onto the front. (See sample)

What I did:

1. Take DSP Lovely Flowers 5 w x 5 h (green flowers) and using the Stampin’ up Scallop Envelope die and your big shot cut out one. Score and make envelope.
2. Using the leaf stamp from the Flower Lines Stamp Set and Old Olive Classic Ink stamp a pattern onto Whisper White (all pages) 6 w x 9 h.
3. Take the Melon Mambo 4.75 w x 8 h and adhesive and add to the Whisper White (all pages) 6 w x 9 h. Add the Whisper White 4.25 w x 7 h onto of the Melon Mambo. (See sample)
4. Take the Scallop Envelope that you punched using DSP Lovely Flowers and add to the front of the Whisper White 4.25 w x 7 h.
5. Using one of the stamps from the Warm Words Stamp set and Old Olive Classic Ink stamp below the Scallop Envelope ensuring you allow enough room to write a message.
6. Using the Old Olive Stampin’ Write marker, write in your own handwriting a message or poem.

Day 4: The 7 Day challenge

Welcome to Day four, hard to believe there is only three days left of this challenge. If you are new to this you can read about my personal challenge here and view what I have done so far for Day’s 1, 2 and 3 of the challenge.

Today I have done something extra special, a matchbook style booklet with sleeves made of envelopes with tiny little note cards. For the opposite page I did a narrow design that allows for a picture and some journaling.

Recipe for Page 7 (left facing page):

Supplies:

Paper: Whisper White cardstock; Melon Mambo, and Crushed Curry card stock; Old Olive card stock, DSP Lovely Flowers
Ink (all classic): Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, and Crushed Curry
Stamp Sets: Flower Lines Stamp Artwork, Warm Words
Misc: Scalloped Edge Punch, Blender Pens, Stampin Dimensional, 5 mini square envelopes, 1 inch circle punch, 1.25 square punch and Velcro dots

Paper Size:

Whisper White (all pages) 6 w x 9 h plus 3 w x 6 h (mini notes)
Melon Mambo 4 w x 5.5 h
Crushed Curry 3.5 w x 11 h
DSP Lovely Flowers 3.5 w x 1 (flowers)

What I did:

1. Take Melon Mambo 4 w x 5.5 h and using the Scalloped Edge Punch and punch the top and then score at 1.5 from the bottom.
2. Take the Crushed Curry card stock 3.5 w x 11 h and score at 2.5 h, and every .5 inch up to and including 7.5 fold from 3.5 to 7.5 like an accordian.
3. Add the Melon Mambo to the Crushed Curry ensuring that it is added to the top of the longest side of the Crushed Curry. (see image)
4. For the front part of the Crushed Curry add the DSP Lovely Flowers 3.5 w x 1 (flowers).
5. Using Rich Razzleberry and the Water Lilly image stamp each envelope.
6. Seal each envelope and then trim so it is open and is now a pocket at one end and using the 1 inch circle punch each envelop so when you put the little cards in you can pull out easily.
7. With the pocket scored and folded like an accordian and using adhesive add an envelope to each section.
8. Using circle Velcro dots add one to the Crushed Curry and then remove the other stick and close the top to ensure positioning.
9. Using the 1.25 square punch and the Old Olive card stock punch one square.
10. Using the Water Lilly flower stamp and a piece of Whisper White card stock stamp using Melon Mambo Classic Ink.
11. Take a blender pen and Melon Mambo Classic Ink and remembering to work from the inside out – dark to light to give each flower shape and form.
12. Take the 1.25 square punch and punch out the flower and add to the other square that you punched using Old Olive card stock. Add to the top portioan Rich Razzleberry making sure that it hangs over. See picture below.

Supplies:

Paper: Whisper White card stock, Crushed Curry card stock, DSP Lovely Flowers
Ink (all classic): Rich Razzleberry
Stamp Sets: Flower Lines Stamp Artwork
Misc: Eyelet Boarder Punch, Taffeta Ribbon Whisper White, Stampin Dimensional and 1.25 square punch.

Crushed Curry 4 w x 3.5 h
DSP Lovely Flowers 4 w x 5 h (flowers)

What I did:

1. Take Crushed Curry card stock 4 w x 3.5 h and the DSP Lovely Flowers 4 w x 5 h adding the DSP paper to the Crushed Curry ½ inch from the bottom.
2. Take the Eyelet Boarder Punch and punch one whole 1/2 on the Crushed Curry and ½ on the DSP paper.
3. Take a piece of Taffeta Ribbon Whisper White tie a knot and trim edges.
4. Punch using the 1.25 square punch and a piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock.
5. Using the Water Lilly flower stamp and a piece of Whisper White card stock stamp using Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink.
6. Take a blender pen and Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink and remembering to work from the inside out – dark to light to give each flower shape and form.
7. Take the Rich Razzleberry square that you just punched and add the flower you just did above to the right side and the middle of both Crushed Curry and the DSP Lovely Flowers as per sample.
8. Assemble the last piece to the page as per picture.

Day 3: The 7 Day Challenge

Welcome to Day three of the challenge. If you missed the first two days you can see Day 1 here or Day 2 here.

NOTE: In my last post a question was asked what did I mean by left facing and right facing pages, basically this a printing term used for a book or publication, it just indicates that these two pages would go side by. This is termed as a spread see here for definition.



Today I thought I would spice it up and do something different. I love things that can be removed or things that allow you to add things too. So for this one I created a pocket again very simple and a tag that can be removed. The tag tucks into the pocket and until you remove it you don’t see the pretty flowers at the bottom. Sort of like a wonderful surprise. For the right side I did something very simple, for this one you can either add a picture or journal or both. What every you want.

What I did:

1. Take Old Olive 4 w x 6 h (tag) and using the corner rounder punch three corners leaving the bottom right alone.
2. Take the Whisper White 3.5 w x 5.5 h (tag) and do the same as above.
3. Using the flower stamp, stamp three flowers using Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, and Crushed Curry let dry.
4. Using the blender pens remembering to work from the inside out – dark to light to give each flower shape and form.
5. Stamp at the top (remember that you will be punching a slot at the top to add the ribbon so make sure you don’t stamp to high) using one of the stamps from Warm Words using Old Olive Classic Ink.
6. Take Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Write Marker and create fake stitching all around except where flowers are. (see sample)
7. Assemble both pieces and using the horizontal slot punch through both pieces of card stock and add ribbon.
8. Take DSP Lovely Flowers 6 w x 4 h (green flowers) and punch one of the wide sides using the scalloped edge punch.
9. Add to Whisper White (all pages) 6 w x 9 h leaving approx .25” of whisper white at the bottom.
10. Adhere the DSP Lovely Flowers 2 x 6 (flowers) to the Rich Razzleberry 6 w x 2.25 h.
11. Assemble the last two pieces as per picture.

2. Take the DSP Lovely Flowers 2 w x 9 h (flowers) and using the Eyelet Boarder Punch, punch along one of the longest side.
3. Adhere the DSP Lovely Flowers 2.5 w x 9 h (green flowers) to the Whisper White (all pages) 6 w x 9 h.
4. Assemble the last two pieces as per picture.

Day 2: The 7 Day Challenge

Welcome to day two (see Day one here) of the 7 day challenge, today I am featuring another sample of the DSP, this paper is so versatile and again matches the NEW In colour Rich Razzleberry.

Recipe for Page 3 (left facing page):

Misc: Paper Piercing Tool, Mat Pack, Blender Pens, 2-way Glue Pen, Powder Pal and Dazzeling Diamonds


Paper Size:

Rich Razzleberry 2” w x 9” h
Whisper White 1 1/2” w x 9” h


What I did:

1. For this page I stamped the Water Lilly image on the Whisper White 1 1/2” w x 9” h card stock with Melon Mombo Classic Ink.
2. With blender pens and Melon Mombo Classic Ink I painted the inside of the flower making sure to be darker inside and lighter towards the outer edges.
3. Using Old Olive Classic Ink and Whisper White 1 1/2” w x 9” h card stock stamp the word "happiness" (or any message you want) as per sample.
4. Using the Two-way Glue Pen and the Whisper White 1 1/2” w x 9” h card stock which you stamped with the Water Lilly image, in a painterly fashion add some glue to the flower.
5. Take the Dazzeling Diamonds and using your Powder Pal to catch any excess glitter pore onto the flower to give it some texture and sparkle. Let dry and then brush off any excess making sure to do so over the Powder Pal so none is wasted.
6. Using the Rich Razzleberry 2” w x 9” h card stock and with the Piercing Tool and Mat Pack I pierced alone on edge (on the right side) giving it a textured feel.
7. Assemble.

What I did:

1. Using the VersaMarker Ink Pad and the Water Lilly stamp from the Flower Lines Stamp Art work stamp a pattern in the background and let dry.
2. Take Whisper White 1 3/4” w x 2” h and stamp one Water Lilly stamp, using the Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink Pad.
3. With Blender Pens remembering to work from the inside out – dark to light to give it shape and form.
4. Once dry take the Cutter Kit and the distressing tool rough up all edges and bend ends in.
5. Assemble as per picture.

Day 2 a complete success!

Day 1: The 7 day challenge

So day one has worked out very well (not sure what this is see Challenge here). Below is my first kick at a two page spread using Lovely Flowers Bundle. I'm so in love the new In Colours. At first I was like give me some glasses these colours are so bright (I am a oh neutral kinda gal) but when you use the paper from this bundle and add some white its fantastic.

1. For this page I stamped the Water Lilly image on the 4 x 4 whisper white card stock to create a patterned background with VersaMark.
2. Then add clear embossing powder and using the Heat Tool melt powder until set.
3. Using Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink stamp three Water Lilly images onto whisper White card stock then punched out using the 1 ¼ square punch.
4. Using Crystal Effects fill in the interior of each flower and allow enough time to dry.
5. During this time punch our three more squares using Old Olive card stock. Assemble each piece;
6. Using Old Olive Classic Ink stamp the word adorable (or any message you want)
7. Assemble.

Ink (all classic): Old Olive
Stamp Sets: Warm Words
Misc: Vintage Pewter Brads, Curly Label Punch, Eyelet Boarder Punch, Word Window Punch, Stampin Dimensional

Paper Size:

Whisper White (all pages) 6 w x 9 h
Melon Mambo 6 w x 4.5 h
DSP Paper Lovely Flowers 6 w x 3 h

What I did:

This is an easy page but it looks so lovely and really they don’t all have to be complicated.

1. Take the Eyelet Boarder Punch and the Melon Mambo card stock (6 w x 4.5 h) and punch one of the longest sides.
2. Take the Curly Label Punch and punch out one using the DSP Paper Lovely Flowers.
3. For the Word Window punch, remembering to always stamp text first then punch. Using one of the stamps from Warm Words, I chose “cherish” and Old Olive Classic Ink stamp onto a piece of Melon Mambo and then punch out using Word Window Punch.
4. Pierce a hole at both ends and add brads, using snail adhesive attach to the DSP Paper Lovely Flowers that you punched using the Curly Label Punch.
5. Using two Stampin Dimensional add to the DSP Paper Lovely Flowers 6 w x 3 h.
6. Assemble.

Stop Hoarding and Make Something Will Ya!

My good Stampin' Up friend Karen Daley here was over not to long ago and we were looking through the new catalogue here discussing what things we wanted to get or were getting? As Stampin' Up demo's we get to always do a pre-order based on selected items, so we can do projects and start planning classes. We also get to order different stamps etc from the different levels that you can earn when hosting a workshop.


As all of you know I am a hoarder, and for those who don't well it is now out there in www.land. I love paper and those rub-ons I just can't part with them if I rub them then I don't have them anymore? Karen has to be the sweetest person I know and she said, "why its so beautiful use it, enjoy it, make something will ya". OK well maybe not in those words because she is so nice, but she was right! What am I going to do with it? Just look at it? My answer would be ah ya? But I forced myself, I broke open the paper (god it is BEAUTIFUL), I broke open the rub-ons (again double yummm) and the stamp well I opened it the day it arrived and have well worn it.

Lovely Flowers Bundle Level 3 Hostess

So here is what I am going to do.

One of my favorite and inspirational designers is Ali Edwards see here. For those of you who don't know her, and frankly how can you not, she is an author and designer a true inspiration for recording life's details and making it look so easy.

About a week or so ago I picked up her book "Sharing Your Story" Recording Life's Details with Mini Books online and totally fell in love with it. So I thought I am going to create my own Mini book (is 6 x 9 considered mini?) out of the Lovely Flowers Bundle and I am going to go hog wild. Anything I want, chipboard, overlays, dingly (is this even a word) dangly things, mini bundles with little cards, pocket envelopes, vellum envelopes with little surprises. Just plain go to town with it. Basically make Karen proud that I have broken my hoarding ways.

So here is the challenge, over the next 7 days I am going to design a two page spreads using only this bundle. At the end of the seven days I am going bind-it (this is going to be a task I have only used my bind-it twice) take a picture of the final product and enjoy the fruits of my labor.

The next 7 days I am going to post a daily two page spread that I have created, leaving the cover/back cover for the end (I think this is going to be the hardest part to design). And hopefully this will inspire you to create, record, and enjoy the simple things.
