Proposed Challenge to Help A Little Girl

Hi Ladies:

For those of you who were watching Dr. Phil today, I generally don't as I am not home but today was different and I knew that I need to watch and I am glad that I did.

About a week ago I was sent a message from a friend of mine about this beautiful young girl at Phoenix Children's Hospital check her blog
here. and I was brought to tears. Since then I have been wondering what I could do to help, how I could spread the word and help make each day that she has to spend there brighter, cheerier and happier when she herself can't be. And the light bulb went on. I would like to propose this challenge to you.

I would like each of you who are visiting my blog to create a card, a paper craft, a poster and 12 x 12 scrapbook page that will help make Kate's day a brighter one. Make a GET WELL SOON, THINKING OF YOU, PRAYING FOR YOU card what ever you would like to do. Get your kids involved, teach them the importance of thinking of others at this time of the year, about all year. Teach them about the spirit of giving to others about praying for others.

I would love to send as many as possible to fill her hospital room with prayers and love from Canada, from around the world and make each day she spends in the hospital a better day.

So take sometime this week, weekend whenever and create a card, a paper craft, a poster what ever you like. Add a heart somewhere on your design as a symbol of the love and prayers that we are sending to her.

Send me an e-mail letting me know that you have accepted the challenge and include a picture of your card, paper craft, poster or what ever you like and each week I will post to my blog all the cards that were sent to Kate and at the end of each week I will make a draw for FREE blog candy!

So get your CRAFTING and lets send love and prayers to Kate today!

You can send your cards of love and prayers to:

Designer Showcase at Scrapn' Stamp Canada

Hi Everyone:

Today I am the featured designer over at Scrapn' Stamp Canada.

Don't you love to give homemade gifts? I especially like to at this time of the year. I am always looking for a different ways to “showcase” my gifts, like DVD cases, plastic boxes etc why it is all about the packaging. I like how packaging is made, I am one of those who likes to keep boxes that things have come in or even worse have purchased items just because of the packaging. My favorite packaging is anything perfume related, candles, or anything spa related. Why even last night at Starbucks I was drawn to this beautiful package not because of the content but more because of the die cut. In fact I can't even remember what was in the packaging but I can tell you the colour shape and what the design is. I know I am weird but it could be worse. But seriously company's spend literally millions of dollars creating and designing packaging that will help sell their particular product.

Check out my contribution, at least the look to help showcase your Xmas cards or any cards that you might want to create. This is a super easy project that you can do in as little as a few hours plus the cards. Check out my post here.

Friday Sketch Post - Scrapn' Stamp Canada Challenge #3

November Sketch Challenge #3

Well I can't believe that another week has gone by. Are you finding the days zooming by lately I just can't seem to get things done? I have all these ideas in my head, and not enough time to get them done. Things are getting very busy with Christmas coming and so do the parties, the shopping and well the best part crafts! You would think with all the ideas I have buzzing in my head I would have my cards done, but nope nothing is done. To busy doing things for everyone else. LOL. Anyway it's Friday and with that comes the Friday Sketch over at Scrapn' Stamp Canada and you won't be disappointed with today's submissions

Friday Sketch Post - Scrapn' Stamp Canada

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice

Just another short post but still worth checking out. I did this wonderful baby shower invitation for a good friend of mine, her sister is pregnant and having as you guessed a baby girl. She was looking for something different and loved Stampin' Up's Crazy for Cupcakes stamp set but as we know it also has a candle in the center. So I cut off the candle and cover it up with a cute and simple flower, some pink beads and you have yourself a pretty pink cupcake good enough to eat.

Supplies:
Stampin' Up's Crazy for Cupcakes, Pink Bead Duo, Backgrounds 1 Stampin' Up Texturz Plates, Modern Label Punch, and Trio Flower Punch.

Decorating with Definitely Decorative from Stampin' Up

Hi All:

Today I am working on some wedding invitation design so it will be just a short post today. Things are starting to get done in the new house, this past weekend my cousin was down again from up North for an update appointment at the hospital. She is doing fantastic and doesn't have to return for another 6 months which sucks because we have so much fun together doing crafts etc. I must say her visits even the short ones motivate me to get things done and this post reflects one of these projects.

Our family room is looking great but was certainly missing things, pictures on walls, pillows etc. So off we went shopping to find some pillows and frames to help bring it all together. With that I bought (awhile ago) some Decor Elements from Stampin' Up. I am not sure if you are familiar with this product but I am soooooooo into it talk about instant gratification and decor WOW. I purchased the Trees, Thoughts and Prayers along with Direction of Your Dreams you can see it
here. I at first purchased the medium but when I first started to measure I realized it was going to be to small for such a large wall and ended up ordering the large which was perfect. This product is super easy to apply. I would however suggest for big items such as this that you have someone to help if even to just double check your measuring and leveling. Other than that it was honestly so easy to apply and in the end breathtaking. I must say it took less than 1 hour to apply this, which is not long at all. And our family room has gone from nice to WOW, here are some pictures of the end product.

I will be posting more as I continue to definitely decorative my house using this wonderful product from Stampin' Up.

Winter Wonderland - Meets the 40's

Reflection of the 1940's Era

Christmas is getting closer and that means Christmas card Workshops! So to kick off the season I have a few vintage style cards I would like to share.

I don't know what it is about the 1940's style or colours but I am so drawn to them. I just love the graphic style, colour scheme and simplicity of the design. Maybe it was the traditional way they did things then, no computer is those days. Today we produce ads in a few hours or even faster then it would be days if not weeks. Today we shop on line, replace illustrations with photos, and generate everything with computers. In those days it was the era of the illustrator, those artist who were paid for their skill, and were a true talent. The Norman Rockwells, Abner Deans (New Yorker), just to name a few.

Here is my contribution to the 1930's 40's and maybe a little 50's

Such a Pretty You!

Better Than a Black Dress - Make It Red

I love stamps that are unique and different and if it is a stamp that is a dress well even better. I found this stamp a couple of weeks ago, can't remember where but I feel in love with it.

The other day while cleaning the studio for my Open House I came across it still unopened and well calling to be made into a card. As you can guess I got distracted and created this ever so cute card, added a few glass beads (it also called for a funky hanger) and voila this very simple card for Such a Pretty You!

Have a fantastic Monday!

Minimal Guidance Gets the Best Results

My Cousins Creation - It's a piece of ART

I love it when people say "I can't or I don't know what to do?" for me it comes simple "creating" that is. I have been doing it for so long and so often that it's like breathing for me so sometimes I forget others are not as comfortable or able to just let themselves go. My theory is give them a few minutes and a few simple directions and there is no stopping them.

While my cousin was down for surgery, we simple had to do some crafting I mean what better therapy! For this project I basically just gave a few hints but basically didn't want to direct, or say try this or that I wanted her to do what she wanted. Give a girl some bling and who knows what will happen. So in honour of my cousin here is her piece of art, that whomever gets it should really be framing it.

Scrap'n Stamp Canada Halloween Treats Stinky Feet

Hi All:

Well Halloween is getting closer and with that candy. I love mini chocolate bars and treats packaging, small enough that you know you can have at least one without feeling to guilty. But small enough to hide the wrappers of the ones that you don't count.

Every year I try not to buy Halloween candy until the last minute I mean really we have no will power in our house. This month our kit came with Halloween paper etc and we were asked to come up with some ideas to help celebrate this wonderful tradition.

For my posting I need to buy a "little" bit of candy enough for the packages and some extra for the photo shoot. So I sent my wonderful husband off to the Bulkbarn to get a variety of items with instructions to get orange, black and white candy only and remember I said "a Little". Half hour later and $20 dollars, yes you heard me $20 dollars later my wonderful husband brings home a sack of candy. Trust me when you see my designs your going to ask me where is the rest of that candy, we only needed maybe a $2.00 worth.

Anyway check out my holiday treats and enjoy! See my samples here.

Saturday Afternoon in the Country - Afternoon of Photos

Sunny Saturday Afternoon - Photos

Well as the season changes so is the weather and the chances of more wonderful days like today are getting slimmer. Today I spent the afternoon with my mom, checking out country stores and enjoying an afternoon of leisure.

Its been so long since I just grabbed my camera and headed out into the world and took random pictures of things that I love or found interesting. We headed over to Merrikville, to check out the many shops were they already have their Xmas items already out. Why even one shop keeper was daring enough to remind us that there were only 60 odd shopping days till Xmas. It sent a chill down my spine that I haven't even thought about it? But I am proud to say as of today I have at least purchased one item for my husband. So I guess I have officially started my Xmas shopping.
Front Porch of Miller's of Merrickville specializing in Primitive Country Decor, Antiques and Garden Fixens

Walking path at The Country Christmas Shop I love the contrast between the wheel and nature.

Display outside the The Country Christmas Shop I would love the bench for my new garden minus the cushion so I can see the beautiful work.

I simple love this photo. My Mom thinks I am weird because I cut things off "what about the head"?But my concentration was the star and the pants on the garden Nome. I hate showing everything, I like removing things that you can imaging are there. I think it is a perfect composition and I bought one of the stars for my garden, though I was told it was rusty why would I want something like that?

I also love to shoot pictures of old cars or trucks, I love the lines, the colour the chrome. This one was simple beautiful unfortunately it was missing rust which for me would have been a bonus.

Of course I had to also take a picture of the tire.

We also got to see these beautiful Siberian Reindeer they are simple beautiful and well behaved and sure treat for the kids if you are in the area.

Hope you had a wonderful Saturday afternoon... Let me know what you did today...

Enjoying the Ride and A Little Late But Still Thankful

Thankful!

Happy Friday Everyone! Today, though I am late I thought I would share what I did this Thanksgiving. First we are settling in our new home, and loving every minute of it. This year we decided to have all of JC's family for Thanksgiving dinner plus my parents and my cousin who was in town for surgery. My brother Steve, sister-in-law Lynne and Nephew Matthew were busy with Lynne's parents who were up from down East. All in all we had 12 people for dinner, now this is a feat for me. Our old place we could do maximum 4 people and frankly that was pushing it as our living room and dining room were together and there was no room just to sit. And the kitchen well don't get me going, I did lots of swearing cooking then but now I am as happy as can be.

For the Thanksgiving table I created napkin rings, place cards and candle votive using all Stampin' Up products. Here are some pics with the recipe to follow:

The recipe:

  1. Stampin' Up BigShot
  2. Stampin Up! Fancy Favour Die and Stampin Up Table Setting BigZ XL
  3. 8 1/2 Vellum card stock (NOTE: card stock is small but you only really need a sliver of the side to put together so it works fine. Remember to use the card stock not the paper vellum.)
  4. Elegant Eggplant (NOTE: I used a empty jumbo cartridge and added the ink)
  5. Bright Blessings Jumbo Wheel
  6. Dotted Blessing (NOTE: This stamp set is from one of our previous Holiday Minis)
  7. Card stock: Pumpkin Pie, Really Rust, Only Orange and Elegant Eggplant
  8. Hemp Twine and Gold Elastic Cord
  9. Button Non-SU
SU = Stampin' Up

Enjoy the Ride - Creating with Buttons
The following card is so cute I just had to share, if you are interested in what I used for this card please e-mail me privately for the recipe or for product sources. As part of the NEW SU agreement which I have still not signed I am not allowed to share "other" companies products. Though I disagree with this totally, as my number one objective is to be creative and to share with you how and what I used. To be a Stampin' Up demonstrator I am only allowed to talk about Stampin' Up products.
Interested in what I used to create this card just drop me an e-mail @ studiono8@hotmail.com

The recipe:
  1. Card stock: Very Vanilla from Stampin' Up
  2. Inks: Real Red, Chocolate Chip and Bashful Blue

So Sorry I'm Late - Button Bouquet
I love creating and using buttons as an accent it's so super easy, cheap and well what an effect it gives. Here is a really cute card that will make anyone forgive you for being late.
Interested in what I used to create this card just drop me an e-mail @ studiono8@hotmail.com
